Remote Communities and Campuses Coverage Enhancement just by using the right antenna
The difficulties facing the operator when there is a need to bring wideband cellular coverage to remote communities is common to most operators worldwide. In most cases infrastructure cost is a major showstopper.
Just switching to the correct antenna can, in many coverage situations, solve the problem without the costs of adding more base stations.
I would like to share with you the results after an operator in Mexico dramatically improved coverage in and around a University Campus in México. Both the simulation and the drive test following the switchover show the improvement achieved by switching from a common high gain panel antenna to a very high gain, narrow spot beam VEGA antenna.
